I was recently made aware via some comments that the Optigan® BOSSA NOVA STYLE disc was used years ago as the basis for two different pieces of music from video game soundtracks:
What made me smile especially was that this last one was covered by the London Philharmonic Orchestra:
Funny to think that a bossa nova groove improvised in the early 70s by some German session musicians, and transferred to a scratchy optical disc, would later be transcribed for orchestra.

I suspect if I dug around I’d find other cover versions.

I remember when Minecraft put the ‘Chirp’ disc into the game, and people were accusing Mojang/C418 (the composer of the game’s soundtrack) of plagiarizing the song from Little Big Planet. It was… quite frustrating, knowing the origin of the sounds used in both songs, heh…
