I was recently made aware via some comments that the Optigan BOSSA NOVA STYLE disc was used years ago as the basis for two different pieces of music from video game soundtracks:
What made me smile especially was that this last one was covered by the London Philharmonic Orchestra:
Funny to think that a bossa nova groove improvised in the early 70s by some German session musicians, and transferred to a scratchy optical disc, would later be transcribed for orchestra.

I suspect if I dug around I’d find other cover versions.

I remember when Minecraft put the ‘Chirp’ disc into the game, and people were accusing Mojang/C418 (the composer of the game’s soundtrack) of plagiarizing the song from Little Big Planet. It was… quite frustrating, knowing the origin of the sounds used in both songs, heh…
