This definitive downloadable collection of samples recorded directly from the original/vintage Optigan/Orchestron/Talentmaker discs and hardware includes:
- All the samples from our legacy Akai format CD-Rom (now only available by special request) in .wav format (suitable for use in any DAW)
- Keyboard-based programs in Native Instruments Kontakt format
- Additional sample sets covering all known released revisions of each Optigan® disc that had them. Some early discs were released in 2 or 3 different versions over time, featuring different drum loops, etc. Often these differences were subtle, but hey, I’m a completist, so shoot me! 🙂
- A bonus handful of sample sets made from prototype Optigan® and Talentmaker discs that were never released to the public
- Scans of various catalogs/brochures for all three instruments, and liner notes from the jacket of each Optigan® disc
- The original legacy Akai CD-Rom liner notes booklet in .pdf format
- Included are all of the chord loop sets for all of the Optigan® and Talentmaker discs, and all of the keyboard scales for the Optigan®, Orchestron and Talentmaker.
Each sound loop from each disc was individually sampled, including each note on the keyboard, to give the most realistic representation of the original instruments. You get:

Note that, since it’s impossible to implement the unique playback characteristics of a real Optigan/Talentmaker on any sampler we’re aware of, these programs are not set up to actually emulate the real-time performance experience of the original instruments. Rather, the chord loops and keyboard scales are set up in separate programs, which provide everything you need to re-create the classic sound of these instruments in a recording environment. Of course, the sample sets can be used in a live performance situation, it’s just that they can’t act exactly like a real Optigan/Talentmaker would. (For that purpose we’ll soon be offering a software Optigan® emulation- watch this space for details!) Also included is a booklet of detailed liner notes outlining a brief history of the instruments, technical notes on the samples themselves, and performance tips.
LEGAL STUFF: You may use the Optigan® / Orchestron / Talentmaker: The Optical Organ Toolkit audio content (“Audio Content”), on a royalty-free basis, to create your own original soundtracks (ie derivative works) for your video and audio projects. You may broadcast and/or distribute your own soundtracks that were created using the Audio Content, however, individual samples, sound sets or audio loops may not be commercially or otherwise distributed on a standalone basis, nor may they be repackaged in whole or in part as audio samples, sound libraries, sound effects or music beds.
